Oh my gosh is it cold! We are wrapped in blankets and have the heaters going. TJ is in a hyper mood. I’m guessing that it’s because he did not want to go outside today and spent most of the day snug and warm inside.
This morning, when we left for work, Marc picked up TJ’s water bowl and showed me how it had a thick crust of ice over the top. This will be my 3rd winter in Johannesburg and it is the first time I’ve seen that happen.
Last year was cold as well, but nowhere near as cold as this – and it’s only the beginning of winter. I remember riding my wheelchair to the car in the morning and seeing frost across the top of the poles around the gardens in the complex. Today, there was no frost, just ice in TJ’s bowl!
In the news on Highveld, they are expecting the cold to continue until tomorrow, at least. There has been snow already, that’s how cold it is, in the high lying areas. Apparently, snow also fell in some coastal towns, which is so rare that it should not happen. Well, that’s what I’ve heard.
Gee, I’m trying to remember what’s happened over the last few days. On Sunday, we had lunch with Charles again, and then went geocaching again. Since it was getting cold already, I stayed in the car while Marc located the stash. Also, the terrain was not very wheelchair friendly.
The last couple days have been hectic again. Today, I was busy the whole day, but still felt like I’d not accomplished anything. In between it all, though, I managed to book an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon (who specialises in brittle bones). Hopefully we can discuss the bone density scan results and those different treatments I saw online – Aredia and Forteo. I just need to remember to print some information before I see him.
I also went to see an optometrist. As it happens, I need reading glasses.
