Yes, for the first time in 26 years, it snowed in Johannesburg. Not sleet, but real snow. I woke up at about 00:25 this morning, needing the bathroom, as usual. It’s rare that I get a whole night without waking at least once. (Even so, I seem to be less tired the next day, which is a good thing. I don’t know if the calcium tablets I’m taking are playing a part. The doc told me to start taking them now, as they would help with the Aredia treatment later.)

When I get back to bed, TJ decided that he wanted to go out and woke Marc. He came back inside and told me to hurry and look outside, because it was snowing.

It was so beautiful. It had been raining when we went to bed, some time after 21:00, so it had not been snowing that long. Even so, the ground was covered in a soft white blanket. TJ did not know what to make of it and I don’t Pumba liked it much either. I went back inside long enough to get my camera and took several shots. After we got back to bed, it took ages for me to get back to sleep. I was just so hyper.

The pictures are on Marc’s laptop. Once I get hold of them, I will edit and publish them. (Yes, and the wedding photo’s as well.)

I don’t remember ever seeing real snow before. Nowhere that I have lived ever received snowfalls. When I was a kid, we went to Pietermaritzburg, to visit my aunt. The day we were meant to for a drive and play in the snow, up in the mountains, I was sick. They brought back a bag of snow, but it obviously did not leave a lasting impression.

While we lived in King William’s Town, we went to Hogsback once, also while it was snowing, but the path up into the mountain was blocked and we had to turn back.

Marc has gone out on his own tonight. There is a get-together on the go, I’m not sure where. But it’s for another forum that he regularly checks out. It’s something to do with a flight simulator game, if I’m not mistaken. I’m really glad that he went. Yes, it is something without me involved, but it is something that interests him. Finally he’s out doing something that he enjoys, so I am definitely not complaining.

As usual, I’ve left things for the last minute. Tonight is worse than usual, because Marc is not around and on my case to get things done. I’ve just got time for a quick splash in the bath before relaxing in bed.
