So i’s been nearly a month since I last updated this blog. As usual, not much has really happened. We went to work, go home, sleep, work again. I will admit that I have not been enjoying my job recently and quite enjoyed having the last two long weekends (due to public holidays, only Tuesday and Wednesday were working days last week).

But I went wandering round my old department, looking for one person and ended up sitting for an hour chatting to someone else. We just couldn’t stop talking. One of the topics of conversation was how daunting it felt for my friend starting a new job in such a big company. She said that it took her about 6 months to find her way around and know what she was doing. She said that her confidence took a huge knock and she kept asking herself whether she had done the right thing, instead of finding something at a smaller company.

I realized then that was exactly how I felt. I had been thrown in the deep end and the job was not as simple as I had first imagined. When I started at Merchant Services two years ago, it was simple – data capturing, answering phones and a bit of paperwork. Within a couple weeks, I was ready to go off by myself. This new job, it’s been over a month and I still don’t know half of what is expected of me. Though nobody has high expectations and know I’ll learn as I go along.

So yes, I finally understood why I had not been feeling that great. The conversation was a great motivating tool and this week, I have been enjoying it more again, though it has also brought its own challenges. My work computer was giving hassles, so I requested that it be formatted and rebuilt. That done, I found I could not do my work because I did not have sufficient administrative rights to install a printer and certain applications. That hurdle will be overcome tomorrow and hopefully the rest of the week will run a bit more smoothly.

If you look through the links on the right, you will see that I have started another blog, called “It’s My Photography”. There was a new theme released aimed specifically at having a photo blog, so I thought I’d give it a try. Currently, I’ve only edited and uploaded a couple that you have already seen on Shutterchance. I intend to share more on that blog than I do on Shutterchance, so keep an eye on it.
