I am so tired now. Maybe it’s because we didn’t have lunch, but breakfast was so big that I wasn’t hungry earlier. Needless to say, I was looking forward to dinner!
Yesterday, we went to the Monte Casino Bird Gardens and spent a few hours walking round there. There was a baby lemur, apparently, but it must have been shy, as I never saw it.
We also went up in a hot air balloon. You won’t know how scared I was looking up at it floating in the sky, secured by one large steel cable. But once I was up there, it was so awesome. The wind did blow it around some, but being in the balloon itself, you were not aware of it really moving until you looked down and saw how far away it was from the landing site.
After having a drink at one of the restaurants, while watching rugby, we went to see the SA Tattoo. It was simply amazing and I wish I had heard about it earlier. There was everything from Drummies, to Bagpipes, gumboot dancers, a navy band and even some Italians demonstrating a skill in throwing and catching large flags. We only saw this last night and I am already looking forward to next year’s performance.
After the show, we went for a very late dinner and drinks. I sampled several shooters and found a new one that I liked. Finally, some time around midnight, we made our way back to the hotel room at the Palazzo and fell asleep. Marc won a lucky draw and so we were able to stay for free.
This morning, we had a delicious breakfast and watched a movie, Orphan. Not quite a horror, but very good. We fooled around a bit with some silly games that you play to win tokens. Finally, we stopped at a hobby shop and bought a small model aeroplane which Marc and I intend to build together before heading home.
