Yep, once again, I am seeking new arrangements to get to work in a morning. On the back of what happened on Monday, Victor told me that I needed to find new transport arrangements by the end of the month. I have managed to find something to last me until the end of October, but still need to find a more permanent solution.
Question is now, what do I do?
I really do not want to go back to using my manual wheelchair at work, if I can help it. I also have Yanky to think about. Not everyone is willing to let a dog in their car.
Here are some of my options:
- Find a lift club
- Find someone with a Code 10 driver’s license to drive the House bus
- Buy a second hand vehicle
Finding a lift club would probably be the most cost effective, but as already mentioned, Yanky. Manual wheelchair. Not keen. Unless I get a second motorized wheelchair to keep at work.
Buying my own vehicle also has many advantages. It would make me more independent. Anyone could hop behind the wheel and take me wherever I wanted to go. There would be no complaints about Yanky, since it was my own car. But, it is expensive and would flatten what little savings I have left. One accident and that is my money, gone.
Had I lived in Cape Town, apparently transport would be less of an issue, since there is subsidized transport there, but Johannesburg seems to be one step behind.
All in all, I have a lot of thinking to do and research to best decide which way to go …
THINKING OF YOU AND HOPE ALL WILL GO WELL. YOU ARE ON MY MIND CONSTANTLY. SHOUT IF I CAN HELP WITH ANYTHING.
