Some songs have a catchy tune. Others just get your foot tapping for one reason or another. Some are just classics that you can never get tired of.
My stepfather, Gareth, has been a fan of the Rolling Stones for as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to them and other great rock artists of the seventies and eighties.
They are still around, but you just cannot beat the old stuff. One song in particular has been on my mind for the last few days, snippets of the video flashing through my mind. Mick Jagger strutting his stuff, arms waving around and huge lips exaggerating the words as he sings. Outrageous hairstyles and tight pants. One thing that still fascinates me is how skinny they all were.
I am not sure why “She’s so cold” is a personal favourite, but it is. They are in a room painted in black and white check and Mick Jagger is strutting around, as usual, at one time elbow in the air, singing to a microphone that looks like an ice cream cone. Another, with his arm around one of the guitarists, exaggerating the words.
Something that struck me, as I listened to it recently, is this line: “I’m the burning bush, I’m the burning fire, I’m the bleeding volcano.” Talk about olden-day swearing. 😀
